Job search guide
How to use Top Notch Spot well, and what to expect at each stage of a job application.
1. Your profile and CV
Recruiters read your profile alongside your CV, so make both easy to scan.
- Professional title: use the job title you want, for example “Graphic Designer” rather than “Hard-working professional”.
- Experience: for each job, list what you were responsible for and one or two results you can point to (numbers help).
- Skills: add the tools and skills you actually use. Recruiters check them against each job’s requirements.
- CV file: a PDF keeps your formatting. Keep it to two pages where you can, and make sure your phone number and email are correct.
2. Searching effectively
- Start broad (a job title or skill), then narrow down with filters: country, city, category, work arrangement, employment type, experience and salary.
- Only some employers publish salaries. Filtering by salary shows jobs whose salary is published, so try without it too.
- Use remote jobs for roles employers have marked as fully remote — some are still limited to certain countries.
- Save jobs you are interested in, and create a job alert from your search so new matching jobs come to you.
3. Applying
- Read the requirements before you apply. Apply to roles where you meet most of them.
- Answer the employer’s questions honestly — our recruiters compare answers with your CV.
- A short cover note explaining why you fit this particular role helps, especially if you are changing careers.
- You can apply to each job once. Follow its status under Applications in your account.
4. Interviews
Most applications that move forward have two kinds of interview:
- With our recruitment team — a short conversation about your experience, motivation and availability.
- With the employer — about the role itself. You will see the date, time, time zone and meeting link or address in your account.
Prepare two or three examples of work you are proud of, check the time zone of the interview, and test your camera and microphone before a video call.
5. Offers
An offer shows the job title, salary, start date and the date it expires. Read it carefully before accepting. If something is unclear, ask before you accept — once accepted, the hire is recorded.
6. Jobs in another country
- Check the job’s location and whether it mentions visa sponsorship.
- Work permits and visas are decided by the destination country’s authorities, not by us or the employer. Use official government websites for visa information.
- Consider cost of living, contract length and what the salary includes (housing, transport) when comparing offers.
7. Staying safe
- Top Notch Spot never asks candidates to pay to apply, to be interviewed or to receive an offer.
- Be careful with anyone asking for fees, bank details or copies of your passport before a formal offer.
- If something looks wrong, report it to us.
