About the role
The U.S. Embassy in Belmopan, Belize, is seeking a full-time, permanent Economic/Commercial Specialist to strengthen its economic and commercial work in the country. This locally employed role sits at the centre of the U.S.-Belize economic relationship. You will monitor and analyse economic trends, trade policy, investment conditions and regulatory developments in Belize, producing clear written analysis and briefings for embassy leadership. The role involves building and maintaining contacts across the Belizean government, private sector and international organisations, supporting commercial advocacy for U.S. business interests, and assisting with visits and delegations. The ideal candidate combines sharp analytical and writing skills with a well-developed understanding of the Belizean economy and the credibility to engage senior interlocutors. For an economics or business professional seeking meaningful, policy-relevant work in diplomacy-adjacent service, this permanent position offers both stability and substance.
