About the role
The Buildings Agency (Régie des Bâtiments) is looking for an electrical engineer for its Flanders Region North operational service in Antwerp. You will work on electrical installations across a varied portfolio of federal buildings, from prisons and courthouses to European schools and offices, helping keep essential public services running safely and efficiently. This is a permanent, full-time statutory post at attaché level A2 (salary scale NA21), filled through an accelerated selection procedure. A typical day combines design work at your desk with site supervision: preparing studies and tender documents, checking offers, attending site meetings, guiding external design offices, and following projects through to delivery. You will also spot opportunities for more energy-efficient solutions and put them into practice, in line with the agency's work on the National Energy and Climate Plan. Working hours follow a 38-hour week with sliding hours, and telework is possible up to three days a week. The role is based in Antwerp, at Italiëlei 4, 2000 Antwerp, and is open to external candidates. Applications close on 15 December 2026.
Responsibilities
- Prepare electrical studies for new construction, renovation and renewal of installations - Prepare technical and administrative files, including plans, specifications, measurements and estimates - Analyse tenders and give technical recommendations - Supervise the execution of works and take part in site meetings - Follow projects technically, administratively and financially, watching quality, safety and conformity - Guide and check external design offices on larger projects and monitor contractual agreements - Handle client requests, analyse needs, propose solutions and give technical advice - Launch public tenders, apply public procurement legislation, and request and follow up permits - Identify and develop energy-efficient solutions
Requirements
A Master's degree in engineering in electricity, electronics or electromechanics, with knowledge of electrical installations. You are results-oriented and work well with others. Selection is in Dutch, by screening of your diploma followed by an interview with a case study. Candidates cannot apply by email; apply through the official Travaillerpour.be portal before the deadline.

Sliding working hours in a 38-hour week, 12 flat-rate recovery days, telework up to 3 days a week, 26 days of leave plus time off between Christmas and New Year, free public transport commuting, meal vouchers, holiday pay and year-end bonus, hospitalisation insurance option, telework and bicycle allowances, a mobile phone with subscription and a laptop, extensive training during working hours, and social benefits through Benefits@Work.
