About the role
Atlassian, the Sydney-headquartered software company behind Jira and Confluence, is hiring a Head of Data Engineering to lead the team whose platforms ingest billions of events every month into the analytical systems used by dozens of internal teams. The role reports to the Head of Engineering and leads the data engineering practice across data strategy, infrastructure planning, architecture and data products. The data products this team builds underpin reporting, analytics, data science, machine learning and AI workloads across the company, so the role needs genuine product sense as well as deep technical leadership — including experience scaling organisations of 20+ engineers across geographies and developing influential relationships with senior leaders. US geographic-zone base pay ranges are stated as: Zone A USD 233,800 to USD 311,700; Zone B USD 210,400 to USD 280,500; Zone C USD 194,000 to USD 258,700. This is a remote position; Atlassian states that it can hire people in any country where it has a legal entity, and that interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually as part of being a distributed-first company. Interested candidates should apply through the application link.
