About the role
SPF Sécurité Sociale, Belgium's Federal Public Service for Social Security, is looking for an IT project manager to join its team in Brussels, at the Finance Tower. This is a permanent, full-time statutory role at level A2. You will take charge of IT projects that support social security services: clarifying what users and the organisation need, planning the work, coordinating developers, suppliers and business colleagues, and seeing each project through to a reliable, well-documented delivery. A typical week will mix planning and follow-up meetings, progress reporting, risk and budget tracking, and hands-on problem solving when issues arise. You will need to translate technical topics into clear language for non-specialists, keep stakeholders aligned, and make sure solutions are secure, usable and fit for purpose. This role suits an organised project leader with solid IT knowledge who enjoys delivering systems that matter to citizens and public services.
Responsibilities
- Lead IT projects from definition to delivery, including planning, coordination and follow-up - Gather and clarify business and user requirements with stakeholders - Coordinate internal teams and external suppliers, and monitor progress, risks and budgets - Report clearly on status, decisions and risks to management and stakeholders - Ensure delivered solutions are documented, secure and fit for operational use
Requirements
You must hold a Master or Bachelor degree in IT, or a general Master degree. Depending on your diploma and appointment, 1, 2 or 3 years of experience in IT and project management is required, with at least 1 year as the minimum. You should have strong project management, communication and stakeholder skills, and a good understanding of IT systems and delivery methods. This is a Dutch-language selection.
Preferred qualifications
Experience with public-sector IT projects, agile delivery methods or supplier management would be an advantage.
Benefits
Permanent statutory appointment with federal public-service employment conditions; work in central Brussels at the Finance Tower.
