About the role
Kenya's Public Service Commission, working through the State Department for Housing and Urban Development, is recruiting interns for Cohort 2 of the Affordable Housing Programme, a national programme delivering housing projects and marketing project sites across the country. The Mechanical Engineering internship is one of 27 professional areas in a 6,000-place cohort and runs for twelve months on a non-renewable basis. Interns carry out duties agreed with and assigned by their supervisors, keep a record of the practical skills they gain in their area of deployment on Affordable Housing Programme and project marketing sites, and take an active part in mentorship activities and other programme responsibilities. On successful completion, interns receive a certificate from the State Department for Housing and Urban Development and are paid a stipend by the State Department at a rate determined by the Government; no specific stipend amount is stated in the advert. Applications must be submitted online through the Public Service Commission job portals at publicservice.go.ke or psckjobs.go.ke by 9 November 2026. The Commission states it is an equal opportunity employer and does not charge any fee for applications.
