About the role
Heilbrigðisstofnun Suðurlands is looking for a midwife for a temporary post at its midwifery shift in Selfoss, with a possibility of extension. The post is available from 1 November, and the start date and the working percentage are as agreed, as is the working arrangement. The working percentage is 10–100%. The midwifery shift is a D1 birthing place with about 80 births a year. Work is on day shifts every day of the week, with one midwife on the evening shift from Monday to Thursday and on-call cover at other times of the day. A midwife is always on call for emergency calls, and another midwife is on the birth shift. The shift provides all maternity care for women living in Selfoss and the surrounding area, and also provides maternity care in Uppsveitir, Hveragerði, Þorlákshöfn, Rangárþing and Vík. The department's midwives also run outpatient services for pregnant women and follow-up care during the first two weeks after birth, in cooperation with the risk maternity care at Landspítali. A telephone service runs during the day, and emergency calls are answered around the clock by the midwife on call. Heilbrigðisstofnun Suðurlands provides primary care, hospital and elderly services as well as ambulance transport, and its service aims are built on professionalism, respect and cooperation, with the well-being and needs of service users at the centre.
