About the role

Medelpads Räddningstjänstförbund works for a safer society in Sundsvall, Timrå and Ånge, and its operations and maintenance unit keeps the technology behind emergency response working day to day. The technician will work mainly with alarm and communications technology, alongside colleagues who cover vehicles and equipment, transport and properties, helping each other across areas when needed. Tasks are allocated by the technology manager together with the unit planner, and include the ongoing operation and maintenance of alerting equipment, servers and networks, installation of technology equipment in vehicles and fire stations, work with SWEN/RAKEL and pagers, and administrative participation in technology operations and service. The role also involves keeping up with developments in the technology area, helping create routines and guidelines, and taking part in project work, with structure, order and tidiness in daily work. The post is permanent and full-time, based in Sundsvall, with six months' probation, and pay is individual and differentiated.

Requirements

You must hold a category C driving licence. You should be structured and good at prioritising, comfortable with varied work and seeing the whole picture, goal-focused and communicative with very good cooperation skills, and secure, creative, flexible and stress-resistant. You need good Swedish and English, spoken and written. Some posts are security-classed, in which case a security vetting with a register check will be carried out before an employment decision, and for some security-classed posts Swedish citizenship is required. A drug test may occur at new employment.

Preferred qualifications

Experience of RAKEL and alerting systems; rescue service work; vehicle installation of technology equipment; networks and servers; and electricity, telecom and radio.
