About the role
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) is the United Kingdom's foreign ministry, and its overseas network includes the British Embassy in Hanoi and the British Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City, where the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) teams promote UK trade and investment. This Trade Manager role for Healthcare and Life Sciences, at Executive Officer grade and offered as maternity-leave cover, is advertised across the Vietnam network in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, with a closing date of 10 November 2026 at 11:55 PM local time. Healthcare is an important sector for the UK in Vietnam, and the trade manager helps UK healthcare and life sciences companies to do business in Vietnam, identifying new projects and opportunities that need UK expertise and working to source that expertise. The role involves managing strategic relationships with relevant government departments and key stakeholders in the sector, building an extensive range of contacts, understanding sometimes technical information, and working on market access issues affecting British companies. The post holder contributes to the wider DBT and British government team across the Vietnam network, working with colleagues in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, in the wider ASEAN region and with private sector delivery partners, and occasional travel within Vietnam is expected. Apply through the official FCDO tal.net recruitment site using the application link, as applications for country-based staff roles are only received through that official site.
