About the role
Eesti Pank, the central bank of Estonia, runs a visiting researcher programme in its Research Division, part of the Economics and Research Department in Tallinn. The programme hosts external economics researchers for a defined research stay, starting from 1 January 2027, and applications are currently open with a deadline of 13 December 2026. Visiting appointments typically last between two and four months; the exact duration is flexible but should be long enough to complete the agreed research project. Proposals in all areas of economics relevant to central banks are considered, with priority given to monetary economics, financial stability, household financial behaviour and real estate economics. Final-year PhD students are also encouraged to apply. Working in the Research Division gives visiting researchers hands-on experience of applied economic research alongside Eesti Pank economists, a chance to participate in the economic policy-making process, attendance at Eesti Pank seminars and internal research discussions, and first-hand insight into how a Eurosystem central bank operates and conducts research. To apply, send your application by email to liina.kulu@eestipank.ee (Ms Liina Kulu, Research Division, Economics and Research Department, Eesti Pank). Applications must be in English and include a cover letter stating your preferred starting date and project duration, a research proposal covering the topic and main research questions, a brief literature review and a description of the methodology and data to be used, your CV, a letter of recommendation (required only for PhD candidates and recent PhD graduates), and a sample research paper if available. The deadline for applications is 13 December 2026.
