About the role

Senegal's Direction des Parcs Nationaux (DPN), under the Ministry of the Environment, is recruiting a Legal Adviser on Protected-Areas Governance (Conseiller(ère) juridique en gouvernance des aires protégées) for its protected-areas project management unit, based in Matam with regular field work in Saint-Louis. The adviser reviews the laws and regulations governing protected areas, wildlife and land, and drafts proposed decrees and orders to update that framework. The role also covers day-to-day legal advice to the DPN and park managers, help formalising shared and community governance of natural resources, and preventing or settling land and resource-use disputes. The post sits in the unit managing a protected-areas and biodiversity project (PIMS 9966), funded by GEF/UNDP but recruited and hosted by the DPN itself. This is a fixed-term contract (CDD) of 36 months. Applications close on 6 November 2026 at 17:00 (Dakar time), and applications from women are explicitly encouraged. Apply by email to candidature@dpn.sn, with the post title and project reference (PIMS 9966) in the subject line — see the listing page linked below.
