About the role
The Direction du contrôle financier (Ministry of Finance) is recruiting a Financial Controller for assignment to a ministerial department in Luxembourg City. The Financial Control Directorate is the State's financial watchdog for expenditure: before public money is committed and spent, it checks that the spending is lawful, properly authorised and correctly recorded. As financial controller, you will be assigned to a ministerial department and will control the commitment and ordering of all of its expenditure, as well as the settlement of all of its non-tax revenue. You will examine the files submitted to you, verify that commitments and payment orders comply with the applicable rules, and ensure that revenue settlements are in order. The work demands rigour and independence: you will need to spot irregularities, ask the right questions, and hold the line when a file does not comply, while working constructively with the department's services. You will also need a good knowledge of budgetary and accounting rules and of the legislation governing public finances, and you will use the State's financial tools, including SAP, in your daily work. This is a full-time post in group B1, under a trainee or change-of-administration appointment, with successful completion of the general admission examination (EAG) as a prior condition for admission. Applications are made online via MyGuichet, and the deadline is 20 November 2026.
