About the role
The Architect of the Capitol is seeking an interdisciplinary professional — architect, general engineer, or community planner — for its Office of the Chief Engineer, Planning, Engineering and Architecture, in Washington, DC. You will develop and manage facilities-planning products and multi-million-dollar renovation and project programmes across the Capitol complex, drawing on the facility condition assessment database and the master plan for new or existing public space. The work includes advising leadership, tracking adjacent-agency projects, overseeing architect and engineer contractors, and improving the office's business practices. Qualifications vary by grade (GS-11 to GS-13) and require a qualifying degree, or combined education and experience, in architecture, engineering, or community planning, plus specialised planning and project experience. Open to the public; U.S. citizens and nationals. Pay is $85,447 to $158,322 per year. Applications close 9 November 2026.
