About the role

Tolletaten, the Norwegian Customs, stands on the front line protecting Norway by controlling the flow of goods across the border, as a central part of society's defence against crime and security-threatening activity. The agency is now recruiting two security advisers for its department for security, emergency preparedness and HSE, in permanent full-time posts based in central Oslo, with flexible working hours and the possibility of working from home. The advisers will help develop the agency's security management and preventive security work. Day-to-day tasks include working with personnel security and other security issues, giving advice and professional support to managers and specialist teams, carrying out and following up risk assessments and improvement measures, preparing and developing governing documents, routines and security measures, contributing to compliance with the Security Act and its regulations, and strengthening the security culture and security awareness across the organisation. The posts involve some travel for meetings and activities elsewhere in the agency. The agency offers a central role in a highly prioritised field, interesting and socially important work, good opportunities for professional development, flexible working hours with home-office options, good pension, insurance and loan schemes through the State Pension Fund, and a central Oslo workplace. Pay is stated as adviser/senior adviser from NOK 750,000 to NOK 900,000 per year. Applications must be submitted through the official NAV listing linked here, by Monday 16 November 2026. Applicants should note that their name may be published on a public applicant list, as stated in the listing.

Requirements

Applicants need higher education in a relevant field, for example security, societal security or information security; relevant experience can compensate for parts of the education requirement. They must have experience of preventive security work, a good understanding of the Security Act and its regulations, experience of risk assessments, analyses or security advisory work, and good oral and written presentation skills in Norwegian. The person appointed must be able to be security cleared to SECRET/NATO SECRET level. Experience of personnel security and security clearance processes, of developing governing documents and security routines, and of advising managers and decision-makers is an advantage. The successful candidates will be enterprising, take responsibility for driving tasks forward, build good relationships and cooperate well across specialist teams, work in a structured way with an eye for the whole picture in complex issues, be solution-oriented with good role understanding, and communicate clearly and build trust.
