About the role

Stavanger fengsel is offering a one-year cover post in its activation team (Aktiviseringsteamet) from 1 December 2026 to 1 December 2027. The post is full-time, 100%, on a two-shift rota. The team's purpose is to prevent isolation harm and to offer activities to inmates who are not in, or cannot use, ordinary school or work activities — including inmates excluded from the community following court or Correctional Service restrictions, and inmates who isolate themselves because of mental illness, developmental challenges or other reasons. The team works closely with ward officers and a multidisciplinary group, and gives its target group physical activities, leisure activities and other structured content. Work includes mapping needs, risk assessment, drawing up weekly plans for inmates, and prioritising inmates who are especially vulnerable and in need of help, such as inmates unable to use established offers, inmates with psychotic episodes, inmates who are suicidal or at risk of harming themselves, inmates in paranoid readiness who may be a danger to others, and inmates isolating over time with gradually worsening mental health. The post holder must expect changes in responsibilities and work area. Pay is stated in the announcement: prison officers NOK 515,000–645,000 per year, at least NOK 540,000 with a completed bachelor's degree, and environmental therapists NOK 540,000–685,000 per year, with a 2% pension contribution to the State Pension Fund. Applications must be made through the official NAV listing linked here, by 11 November 2026. This post is listed here in English; the original announcement is in Norwegian.
