About the role
Sikt – Kunnskapssektorens tjenesteleverandør is recruiting one, possibly two, new colleagues for Forskningsnettet Uninett, the research network that is the backbone of Norwegian research and education, serving over 500,000 daily end users. The posts are permanent, full-time, based at the head office in Trondheim, with partial home office. The work includes designing, developing, rolling out, troubleshooting and operating nationwide optical systems (DWDM) with time and frequency distribution, configuring, testing and documenting network elements and optical connections at optical and IP level, setting up and running modern monitoring solutions with telemetry and Grafana, automating, scripting and developing network-related systems, making technology assessments in procurement, testing new technology in lab and production, and taking part in international technical cooperation with other European research networks. A national time network for precise, traceable time in Norway is now being integrated into the research network. The role offers flexible hours, competence development, a 7.5-hour working day including lunch, and membership of the State Pension Fund. Requirements
Education at bachelor or master level in computer technology, telecommunications, electronics or a similar field, and at least three years of relevant experience. Good communication in both Norwegian and English, written and oral. You must be able to be security cleared, as the work concerns critical national infrastructure. Experience in at least one of: optical transmission (DWDM), infrastructure and signal processing; or IP technology and general network architecture with basic understanding of optical communication. Personal suitability will be emphasised.
