About the role
This federal fire-management role puts you at the centre of wildland fire planning in the American Southwest. You will advise local teams on fuels treatment and fire behaviour, assess conditions on the ground, and coordinate plans with partner agencies so that communities, landscapes and crews are better protected. The work blends field judgement with planning: analysing fuels, shaping treatment priorities, and supporting safe, effective responses when fire threatens. Applicants need documented primary, rigorous wildland firefighting experience, including at least one full fire season or fourteen days on the fireline, plus recognised qualifications such as RXB2 combined with Engine Boss, Crew Boss or Helicopter Manager credentials, and a year of specialised fire-management experience at the GW-09 level or equivalent. This is a demanding, outdoors-focused career for an experienced fire professional ready to lead fuels work at a senior level.
Requirements
Applicants must meet the experience and qualification requirements set out in the role description above.
