About the role
ACLED (Armed Conflict Location and Event Data) is an independent, impartial conflict and protest monitoring organisation that provides real-time data and analysis on political violence and protest in every country and territory in the world, used by journalists, researchers, practitioners and policymakers. ACLED is looking for a Yemen Researcher to help collect, review and manage political violence and protest data across Yemen. Working fully remotely from any location with a reliable internet connection, the researcher reviews news, international organisation, NGO and security reports, records incidents of political violence ranging from protests to battles into ACLED's Excel template, and checks the quality, consistency and reliability of the data produced. It is an entry-level independent consultant opportunity of 30 to 40 hours per week, which may require submissions mid-week and at weekends, and the work involves reading conflict-related media about violent events. Selected candidates complete extensive ACLED training exercises and must reach the required standard to be retained; the initial consultancy runs from 30 October 2026 to 30 June 2027, with continuation possible. Remuneration is 20 US dollars per hour. Apply through ACLED's career portal using the application link, submitting a CV and cover letter; applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
