Claims Assessor - Dunedin

About the role

The Accident Compensation Corporation is looking for a Claims Assessor based in Dunedin. In this role you will assess injury claims, gather and review relevant information, and make fair, well-reasoned decisions in line with policy and legislation. A typical day may include speaking with injured people, employers and health providers, reviewing medical and employment information, recording decisions clearly, and explaining next steps in a supportive and easy-to-understand way. You will work as part of a team that helps people access the support they need to recover, return to work and live independently after an injury. This is a Dunedin-based role for a careful, organised person with strong judgement, good communication skills and a genuine commitment to helping people at a difficult time in their lives.

Responsibilities

- Assess injury claims and make fair, evidence-based decisions - Gather and review medical, employment and other relevant information - Communicate clearly with injured people, employers and providers - Record decisions and case notes accurately - Explain entitlements, decisions and next steps supportively - Work with colleagues to support recovery and return to work

Requirements

Experience in claims, case management, customer service or a related administrative role, strong attention to detail and decision-making skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to manage a caseload and work sensitively with people.
