Head of Department – Child Protection, Krasno Selo, Social Assistance Agency (Sofia)

About the role

The Social Assistance Agency is looking for a Head of Department for its Child Protection Department in Krasno Selo, Sofia. This is a civil-service post in the agency's General Directorate "Social Assistance", within the Regional Directorate for Social Assistance – Sofia (capital) and the Directorate "Social Assistance – Krasno Selo". The department head organises and leads the whole activity of the department's staff on child protection: assessing needs and taking part in planning services for children and families at local level, providing methodological help and advice to staff on applying the legal and subordinate normative base, planning social services for children in the municipality, developing programmes for informing children and parents about their rights and obligations, working with institutions and citizens on child-protection problems, and controlling the lawful application of the normative framework in the department's areas of competence. The basic monthly salary is set at appointment under the salary regulation, taking into account the post level, the candidate's qualifications and professional experience. The official notice states a minimum basic salary of 1,048.00 euro, and grade ranges of 620.20 euro to 1,178 euro (grade 1), 620.20 euro to 1,580 euro (grade 2) and 620.20 euro to 1,781 euro (grade 3), depending on professional experience above the minimum for the post. Applications close on 13 November 2026 at 17:30. Selection is by a written paper on the role of the Social Assistance Agency in implementing state policy in child protection, followed by an interview. Under Article 14(4) of the competitions ordinance, candidates who have completed voluntary reserve service under Article 59(1) of the Reserve of the Armed Forces Act receive preference when final results are equal.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree. At least 3 years of professional experience. Rank III junior; post level 7 / management level 7A. Specific requirement: candidates must meet the requirements of Article 7(2) of the Civil Servant Act. Competencies: management competence; results orientation; teamwork; communicative competence; client focus; professional competence; digital competence. Selection: written paper (topic: the role of the Social Assistance Agency in implementing state policy in child protection) plus interview.
