About the role

As a Jurist with the Agence Fédérale des Médicaments et des Produits de Santé (FAGG/AFMPS), you will join the Legislation and Disputes department, a team of about fifteen lawyers supporting every service of the agency. The agency plays an essential role in protecting public health: it ensures the quality, safety and effectiveness of medicines for human and veterinary use and of health products, from development to use, and of blood, tissues and cells from collection to use. Its activities are organised in three pillars covering pre-authorisation, post-authorisation, and inspection and control. Your work will cover human and veterinary medicines, medical devices, specially regulated substances such as hormonal substances, drug precursors and narcotics, the distribution of pharmacies and instructions to pharmacists, substances of human origin (SoHO) including blood, tissues and cells, gametes and embryos, and general administrative law. In a typical week you will advise on how the rules should be applied so that they are interpreted uniformly and decisions can be taken on a sound basis, propose legislation in one of these fields and support the normative process from preparation and drafting through follow-up of adoption, track legal developments in legislation, case law and doctrine so your advice stays accurate and up to date, inform and train colleagues on how the rules apply or change, and follow dispute files involving the agency, preparing the file for the relevant field. The post is statutory, permanent and full time at level A1 (scale NA11), based at Galileelaan 5 in Brussels. Working hours are sliding hours in a 38-hour week, telework is possible, and the selection is in Dutch. This vacancy is exclusively for persons with a disability, as stated in the official listing. Applications are made online through the federal recruitment portal, not by email; selection includes a diploma screening, an experience screening only for holders of a foreign law diploma with a valid general equivalence, and an interview with a case study at FAGG.
