About the role
Germany's national meteorological service, the Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD), is looking for an officer to join its Planning and Coordination unit within the Research and Development division at its Offenbach am Main headquarters, on a fixed-term contract of four years starting as soon as possible. The unit plans, coordinates and monitors the DWD's research and development activities, manages its internal steering, and shapes cooperation with scientific institutions in Germany and abroad, with a particular focus on supporting collaboration with universities and research institutes. Your work will include coordinating and administratively supporting DWD research and development programmes and projects - in particular the IAFE applied research programme, the extramural research programme and third-party funded projects - covering reporting, conference organisation and project controlling. You will help design cooperation relationships with national and international scientific institutions and associations, draft and agree cooperation contracts, support updates to the DWD development plan, prepare draft decisions for the executive board, and monitor their implementation. The role also covers tasks for the office of the Hans Ertel Centre for Weather Research, support with financial planning for all DWD research activities and cost and investment planning, participation in committees such as the Scientific Advisory Board and programme council, and coordinating editorial contributions from the Research and Development division to DWD publications. The post is in the higher civil service career path and is open to salaried employees and civil servants, full-time or part-time. Applications are made through the Electronic Application Procedure (EBV) on the Federal Office of Administration Services portal, quoting reference code 20261778_0002, by the closing date. The official listing does not state a salary for this post.
