About the role

The Ontario Public Service (OPS) is building a roster of candidates for short-term Administrative Assistant assignments, of up to six months, across various ministries in North Bay, Sault Ste Marie, Sudbury and Thunder Bay in northern Ontario (Job ID 244602, Office Administration 08, OPSEU compensation group). Administrative staff keep government operations running smoothly: organising files, managing email and maintaining records; preparing and formatting documents, reports and communications from standard templates; scheduling meetings, coordinating calendars and handling logistics; greeting visitors and answering phone and email enquiries; updating shared resources and monitoring office supplies; supporting purchasing and tracking expenses and invoices; and following up on tasks and timelines so projects keep moving, using standard office software and equipment throughout. The posting states a salary of $26.92 to $31.31 per hour, as listed under the OPSEU Collective Agreement, for these English-language temporary assignments, and the competition will also be used to create an eligibility list for upcoming opportunities over the following eighteen months. No cover letter or resume is required at this stage - applicants complete the application form linked in the official OPS Careers advertisement, quoting Job ID 244602, by Friday, December 18, 2026 at 11:59 pm EST, and may be contacted for further assessment as vacancies arise.
